Atlanta, GA – Today, the Democracy Defense Project (DDP) – Georgia, a bipartisan group of former elected officials and leaders – including former Governor Nathan Deal, Governor Roy Barnes, Senator Saxby Chambliss, and Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin – who are committed to free and fair elections, issued a statement following former President Donald Trump’s comments on Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and Governor Brian Kemp:

“President Trump’s remarks today completely – and intentionally – undermine confidence in our elections. This type of baseless rhetoric is harmful to the protection of our democratic process and future of this great nation.

“Further, the State Election Board is a non-partisan group of public servants that is to be committed to secure, accessible, and fair elections. We urge members of this important Board to remember their Oath of Office and act accordingly.”
