Atlanta, GA – Today, the Democracy Defense Project (DDP) – Georgia, a bipartisan group of former elected officials and leaders who are committed to free and fair elections, issued a statement following the failed assassination attempt of former U.S. President Donald Trump.

“This is America, and our leaders are picked by voters at the ballot box – not by a radicalized gunman,” said DDP Board Member and former Georgia Governor Roy Barnes. “Our organization wishes the former President a speedy recovery and remains committed to restoring confidence in the democratic process this fall.”
