Atlanta, GA – Georgia Board Members of the Democracy Defense Project, a bipartisan group of former elected officials and leaders who are committed to free and fair elections, responded to several Metro Atlanta elections offices extending their hours and preventing overnight on absentee ballot collection.
“While allowed by law to extend the hours of local elections offices, and thereby collect absentee ballots, elections officials in Fulton, Gwinnett, Cobb, and DeKalb did a disservice to voters, media, and candidates alike by not communicating their decision ahead of time and delaying the opportunity for oversight by poll workers.”
Democracy Defense Project – Georgia Board Members include former Governor Nathan Deal (R), former Governor Roy Barnes (D), former U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss (R), and former Atlanta Mayor Shirley Franklin (D).
