Las Vegas, NEVADA – Today, Democracy Defense Project (DDP) Nevada co-chairs, former Governor Brian Sandoval and former Nevada Assembly Speaker Richard Perkins, strongly rejected recent meritless calls of voter fraud in Washoe County.

“Baseless accusations of fraudulent elections propelled by election deniers in Washoe County are unfounded and counterproductive,” said Sandoval. “While I fully support diverse viewpoints and open political discourse, the unsubstantiated suggestion that the Washoe County Registrar’s employees and volunteers are operating in bad faith is contemptible and does not reflect who we are as Nevadans”, Sandoval stressed. “Our state’s vote-counting process may be slower than many of us would like, but we can all have confidence our election systems are accurate, transparent, and geared to make every legal ballot count.”

Perkins added, “Legitimate election recounts and recalls have been part of our elections process for decades; however, reckless and mendacious complaints of fraud weaken our Republic and undermine our voting system’s integrity. Now is the time to speak up and filter out hollow rhetoric and focus on the facts: Nevada’s elections are safe and secure. End of story.”

With bipartisan leadership and community support, Democracy Defense Project Nevada remains committed to ensuring all voters can trust in the security and fairness of Nevada’s election process.
